Tragedy tag

I was searching for a good GL manga, and I found one that really piqued my interest. However, when I saw the tag 'Tragedy', my heart sank. The first thought that came to mind was that one of the main characters must die. This was truly disheartening, as starting a new journey only to be hit with such a significant spoiler takes away from the experience.

Imagine going to watch Avengers, and right below the poster, there's a 'Tragedy' tag suggesting that one of the main characters dies. In this case, Iron Man – you wouldn't know who, but you'd spend the entire movie dreading it.

Now, every page I turn in this manga, I can't shake the thought that one of the protagonists will die. It hovers over the story, making the reading experience less enjoyable. It feels like a betrayal of the author's intent, stripping away the intended emotional journey.

It's like telling a bedtime story to a child, but before starting, you reveal that someone will die. It ruins the flow of the narrative, much like a dissonant note in a piano concert that echoes repeatedly, disrupting the intended impact of its climax.

In hope of avoiding this problem, I suggest 3 possible solutions:

  1. Remove the Tragedy tag entirely. This would resolve the issue instantly but might require agreement from the community and could be seen as a drastic change.
  2. Change its name. The term 'Tragedy' leans too heavily towards imminent death. Perhaps something like "Emotional Rollercoaster" would convey the intended meaning without being too specific.
  3. Add a user-specific option to hide certain tags, or only the Tragedy tag.
What are your thoughts? How can we avoid this issue?

3 sounds pretty good to me, i know there are some good oneshots with tragedy that can make you get the feels, so maybe not remove it entirely, but having the option to hide tags sounds cool. i could definitely use that. renaming the tag “tragedy“ might get different feedback, but for now i agree with 3.
