It's always seemed weird to me how so many scanlation groups will take on more and more projects when they clearly don't have the staff to cover them. Just do what you can and drop what you can't. No one's giving out awards for the scanlation team with the most ongoing* projects.

*Here defined as 'we refuse to acknowledge that we've dropped this title even though we've clearly dropped this title.'

I mean they apparently have the series majorly TLed script wise they just don’t have someone dedicated to redrawing for this specific series.

Also sometimes it’s simply a case that the staff they have doesn’t want to work on this series for whatever reason and the one who used to redraw might have left the group or is busy with life. They’ve been releasing chapters for other series so it’s clear they do have redrawers but said redrawers don’t want to work on this series.

And that's fine. No one should feel obliged to work on a project if they don't want to. This is all done on a voluntary basis so that's how it should be. Just like Golden isn't obliged to collaborate if they don't want to. I mean, it does seem inefficient to outright refuse since the work's (purportedly) already done, but if they want to be a one man show that's their business. And if Akatsuki wants to keep releasing their version at a slower pace? Sure. Go nuts.
It's just always confused me when you get to the credits page on a chapter and the group announces the seventeen new projects that they've taken on and also that they are in desperate need of translators and redrawers. If the staff you have don't want to work on a project, drop the project. Or if they want to work on all of them but don't have the time, drop the ones they least want to work on. Or if they refuse to drop any of them and that means some go at a snail's pace? Okay? I guess? But this is where my confusion is starting to come in.
I'm not privy to the inner workings/drama of scanlation groups (and that's the way I like it) but from an outside perspective it sure looks like a lot of them create a lot of unnecessary stress for themselves.
