Japanese authors, and to a lesser extent genre fiction writers worldwide, seem to love making the mistake of trying to redeem a villain who has been established as doing things that are completely unforgivable. If he wanted to redeem the cat girl then he should have had her be a morally neutral thief who only steals from people who can afford it or sells bandits into slavery or something of that nature, not a straight up slaver who has destroyed hundreds of random innocent lives. She's objectively more evil than a serial killer! I just try to ignore it at this point, it happens too often in too many stories to let it be a dealbreaker. I still have to shake my head and wonder wtf they were thinking every time it happens though.

This whole arc might as well be a dream sequence anyway.

@Wexmajor i think its more like, all people who do bad things, do them because they THINK they have good reasons, i.e. we as the objective viewer can easily identify evil and good, but real people are products of their environments, and live in a tough world where they must make tough choices to survive. When the alternative is death for you and those you love, many people will do whatever it takes no matter the cost

This fantasy filler arc has been too long one chapter too many. It just detracts from the main story without any actual progress.

Well that's just great, I finally caught up and now I have to wait like everyone else. Regardless though it was a fun read. Still hoping with the announcement of Season 2 this finally gets licensed. Though reading through the comments I really don't see why some people want this series or this particular arc to hurry up and end. It's pretty obvious how the series ends so I don't really see a need for it to be rushed unless the creator just gets bored of it. Besides hasn't only like a month or two passed since Kanaka got frozen in time, so technically he could just keep this going for the next 10 or so volumes if he wanted.

This arc is getting worse and worse wonder if the author has really gone mental or is like fuck everything. but in the end, all this mess is only because of kiriha and Kazuya's carelessness.
This idiot hasn't learned his lessons even after getting his memories back and when you think about it everything that is going on is because of his stupidness.

Eh at least we get Kyouka masturbating, but this arc is boring as hell. It's like if the author wanted to make Goblin Slayer, Shield Hero and every other fantasy/isekai trope, but got stuck on Tsugumomo for 10 years+

The protagonists are such idiots that this is getting a bit tiresome. They had better kill that toad-lady when they eventually realise they can get out of this mess quite easily.

And the comments sections are getting quite cancerous.

I guess I'm not surprised by all the hate directed at the young Miss Catgirl, but I don't feel it myself. While I don't admire her choices, I somewhat understand them and am glad I haven't had to make similar decisions in my own life. To paraphrase banjomarx from back in 2019, the trolley problem shifts from abstract to agonizing when those you love are involved.

That said, I agree with most itt about the isekai arc. Even if it's a worthy subversion of genre tropes, forcing your protagonists to spend most of their "fantasy adventure" being imprisoned, enslaved and tortured seems a wasted opportunity. It certainly isn't much fun to read. I suppose prison interiors are easier to draw than epic battles and otherworldly vistas...
