itd be a hell of a lot more interesting if the bad guys simply believed tsukumogami were inanimate tools in good faith, without being comically villainous about it. could parallel contemporary thinking about ai.

bad guy could say a lot of compelling things - he loves his tools, and the best thing for a tool is to fulfill its purpose excellently, even to its destruction (which must come someday anyway), not be fawned over by people with emotional delusions that they're actually alive.

Man I genuinely kind of hoped they kept her dead as it would have broken the mold of these kinds of manga, but I knew from the start there was just no shot they kept the main girl and mascot of the series permanently dead and just had her killed off. I mean obviously I'm glad she is back, but still. Given the whole "ascension" thing is just the classic shounen manga "friendship/anger power-up" that the MC randomly gets it is to be expected I guess, so like I said there was a 0% chance she would stay dead. I guess the tone of the series was cool while it lasted, and it's impressive there was actual a substantial chunk of chapters where she was gone.
