It's because I've always felt that rule needs to be revised, as there are unfortunately some unreasonable groups that plaster their logo over panels. In general I just feel excessive watermarking is unreasonable and falls under 'extraneous'.

The letter J doesn't exist in classic Greek or Latin, and commonly has I used as a stand-in in certain English texts/translations.
