Something that annoys me in stories such as this is when the MC clearly has a defined personality BEFORE suddenly remembering they were reincarnated, and then suddenly completely changing said personality right after remembering.
If he was a selfish A-hole before remembering, he'd still be a selfish A-hole, but likely with a bit more self-awareness.
There's no way the prideful guy of before would have bowed his head, even if he did give the party to the hero of the story.

If I was the writer, I would have had the MC give the hero the party temporarily, so that the hero can 'screw up', to truly show how 'worthless' the hero is. This would save the MC's pride, and still kept his scummy attitude, even if he wasn't trying to do the right thing.
Because what's the point of having people reincarnate as a villain, if they're not villainous in the slightest degree?

Anyway, I'll still read this isekai slop, because Mr.Tastelss consumer (me) is hungry and needs to consoooom, yum yum!

The fact that there's always something new (even if they regress to the same stuff eventually) means there's a lot of new grounds to tread and new things to discover.
