This is heartwarming and fun and all. But I'm also not sure how to feel about having a whole chapter be used solely for a gag when we were desperately building up defenses for a life and death situation that, while we know the MC survives, is still something we're primarily signed up for witnessing how he builds up his dungeon.

Well, at least he now has a few corpses that he can convert into material for a new fused monster thanks to that cooking filled with Explosive flavors.

... not a bad idea, depending on avalible traps it could work nicely as a combo peice or an off guard surprise.
imagine this, a magical trap to induce famine and compulsion, false wall falls down revealing obvious trap food ... turkey leg on a string optional. intruders eat and explode, win. alt have food spiked with trace ammounts of golden potion that looks like the bad food and have the bad food also both hidden in false walls castlevania style the mind games would be epic.
