Wait…it ended on the highest note possible, the pulling of an SS gacha ancient dragon waifu? I know that it’s good to leave on a high note but I wasn’t expecting a whole-ass cliff.
And of course the all-powerful, legendary dragon manifests as a humanoid girl!

Why can't a dragon be just a dragon, for once?
where’s the fun in ye olde generic dragon? Any old sap can do that. Last time i felt a dragon as an “oh shit we’re fucked” moment is in Heavensward (Niddhog).

But a dragon that can transform…we’re hitting hype territory. A more refined design for a more cultured age.

Also, booba.

Actually love that this series brought a hard conclusion to the story at hand rather than try to build up four or five extra stories to go behind it. Still a bit deliciously trash because the mechanics center around, well, game mechanics, but the core story of Allen and Rick was fairly strong. Do wish that Rick's new family had had a little more to them, but oh well.

Honestly, while the story was going it kept getting more and more depressing so I'm glad this is how it ended.

Well, I have a theory as to what happened to the hero. His power made him reject reality by using his very being as fuel for his power. With Rick saying that he became a poison that rejected the dungeon itself.

If thats the case, you can't collect DP from a being that became the very antithesis of your reality and/or destroyed his very existence for power.

But thats just my thought on the matter. If this does get a sequel I hope it keeps the interesting philosophies and studies going.

If someone dies in the dungeon, the amount of points gained is proportional to their power?
And he is surprised that he didn't gain any points after the hero burned up everything that constituted the base of his power? There was nothing left anymore. Simple as that.

Allen rejected everything but there was one thing he couldn't reject.

Probably best point to end. Cause dragging it longer even with new "enemy" it would make this story loses its charm.
And we see the end of goal here, so there's no need to force the story longer.

Still, seem like the world in this story is truly a shitty place, isn't it.

That was.... a serious amount of talk-no-jutsu, interspersed with bouts of flashbackitis.....

Ah well.. it's ended .. \0/ yay! \0/
It's not quite going on the "Toxic Waste" pile, but it certainly is going to be buried deeply, with a stake through its heart.

Thanks for completing this one, even if it ends in a bit of an axed state, it was interesting nonetheless.

Honestly ended the best way it could. It’s definitive, and ties up all the loose ends. If the fabled part II drops it can still slot in perfectly where this ended and while I’m not too fond of mystery boxes, you still have the nature of “skills” to explore in universe as an end goal.

Unless they lean all the way into "the alchemist demon lord really doesn't care about anything other than his research" an open ending is probably the best option.

They killed off the strongest hero, his replacement, and both their teams; Rick is going to keep churning out SS-rank monsters; and never mind what happens once he starts synthesizing those together. The power balance is already completely gone, and with it, any hint of narrative tension unless, again, they lean into some sort of slice-of-dungeon-life genre.

Maybe introduce the biggest bad, whatever god or demon lord-lord is making the dungeon cores and come up with some reason that Rick has to do something about it anyway.

But I'm not sure how much longevity any of those storylines have.

they still got a bit of steam left, the hero wasnt converted to dp meaning hes dead dead or cheated death... and if its the later he could be a huge threat if he comes back. if i understood the ability right he basicly burned up all he was... so if he did come back it would be a schrodengers cat impossible existence kinda thing, would a cosmic blank even have the concept of death or even self? heck the existence of such a thing could likely do damage just due to paradox. heck they could even pull the heros leftovers back as some kinda wraith that possesses anyone with the title of hero as thats all he had left to identify himself.
