Honestly I think the "master" might be responsible and was trying to build rep before taking down the skull lord
Yeah, felt like he was diverting blame to the Guild and Local Lord in order to hide it from himself and whatever group he's a part of. Him going solo to fight the lord, and coming back unscathed and supposedly warning the other adventurers is also suspicious. We know it's not his apprentice, she's too dumb, and no one else was really introduced so their betrayal won't matter. It's got to be someone we've actually spent time with and gotten to know, and he's the only one that qualifies.

Yup, it's the law of detail conservation. There'd be no reason to have all this attention on the master, including introducing his apprentice, if he didn't have anything to do with the situation.

Predicable, but ironically, if it turns out that he isn't involved and it was just a red herring, that would just be bad writing since all this set up would be for nothing. Unless the writer manages to surprise me, but the plot has been super straightforward up to this point.

Yup. Shifting suspicions to the only ppl that can pursue him to gather evidence, or to court if they got evidence. Others he can silence, or rely on reputation to mislead.
Like how he tries to mislead mc into not reporting to guild to avoid being "silenced" by guild master

I like the adventurer in this story, they're actually competent to certain degree.
It just MC is too good at this "system" so he manages to reach the elite in no time and with his charismatic he also earn more reliable allies despite their personality.

This feel like a good MMORPG story if it not isekai.
