i´m actually expecting the author suddenly killing Est by now... Est was an artifact that the author lost control off, like the one sibling that survives from the crumbs of the golden child. By now I really want that the author to just send Est´s party away, it is clear that he will not have an apology from the party and the story is already way past him, why keep him then?... well, you can´t have an NTR without the cuck (50% joking, 50% serious)
You are actually kinda right. Est is a shock factor to him(the author), without Est around it's just another harem story, with Est at least it can still claim a "banisher" story from the "I was banished from the party" trope. Even if the party full of asshole, he even made Est as a villain once, so I won't be surprised if he will make Est as an even bigger villain just because the story can't get anywhere without Est and the Harem(yeah I know the manga has ended). We haven't even seen any of them apologize to him, especially Daru for letting the misunderstanding for very long(which was arguably bigger turning point and souring their relationship more than the banishing act), and likely never will.

At this point someone might as well make a fanfiction about this about the consequences of their actions, their lack of empathy toward Est and their lack of foresight. In fact someone make a fanfic on a what if: If Est actually followed Daru's 'advice' and not help his old team with the demon and stay in the guild with the rest of the others.

This. The "banished" trope was usually satisfying because we get to see their just desert, not only this lack of real consequences, they don't have any remorse either. Even then, we are forced to follow the worst of them all into believing he is somehow a virtuous guy after everything he has and hasn't done.

Where to find this?

Huh? They all kept protecting Est, before Est actually became an asskicker on his own, after getting removed from the group. That was the problem. Their team was too small for the others dedicate time solely for protecting Est, who couldn't fight on his own back then.

In this last demon fight, Daru couldn't have protected anyone if he also needed to defeat the demon. That's why Est and his companions evacuating Athena and the rest was needed.

This is a poor series as it is, but there's no need to force yourself to come up with artificial reasons to make it even worse.
You need to reread the story. Daru did jack shit, he was just tagging along. Same with the lesbian elf who has a "hard on" for blond girl. First time she actually worked hard was in the demon fight with Est already out of the part and magically alive after death situation - cause manga required him to stay alive, and have the OP powers acquisition after banishment stuff there for the banished trope or something.
So the only girl in team that tried to protect him IIRC was the blond childhood friend, who is weak as fuck and didn't manage to pull it off so Est got hurt. She realised that their both dreams of becoming awesome adventurers wont happen if Est won't "unlock" powers, and his life being in danger around her - which could make her stun-locked if he would actually die. So she kicked him out of party, cause if he dies out of her side its a no-biggie.
Also with how self insert child groomer Daru is made in this story, author would somehow still make him win the fight even if he was forced to also protect the girls, or in the "sad ending" version some girls would die, and Daru would blame it all on Est for listening to him and staying in guild and not helping like Daru demanded.

Yeah, if author makes the fanfic the Daru child groomer will somehow magically kill the demon and still save his child waifus, and then make it seems like the girls did it so that their dreams could be sooner done or something.

Groomer, groomer, groomer, groomer. That's all you can say. Daru was a drunkard wasting his life away before Athena approached him and got him back into shape, which took a good long while. If someone's a groomer in this series, it's Athena. If she hadn't talked to him, he would have barely noticed the group even exists. Obviously she's not one, but you seem to love that word.

And nothing you said even goes against what I've said. Nobody had the possibility to keep protecting Est. The magician obviously wouldn't have been able to do it: if an enemy got near her, she as well would have needed protection, but she was handling long range attacks. Daru was only there to observe Athena, foremost, so it wasn't in his interests to be saving anyone, before he started to get back in shape. So, in addition to being the primary fighter, Athena would have needed to protect both Mirialia and Est. Daru wasn't really a full member of the group before he eventually started training Athena, Mirialia, and Frey. Before that, his mind was stuck in the past and he was following Athena for unhealthy nostalgia, basically.

Groomer, groomer, groomer, groomer.
Most of what you said proves my point, not yours. Both Daru and lesbo elf had powers to protect whole team in battles, but they didn't. Daru gave no shits, and your excuse of him being stuck in past doesn't really work here, especially if what people said about source material is true, where he was trying to train them all including Est before the banishment happened. Elf cared only about her lesbo oshi blond girl, and still didn't use her full power at all till the near-death situation with the demon.

In a 4 man group with a support/white mage its the other 3 role to protect the support, they failed to do so and Est got hurt. Est getting OP powers after solo nearly-death as per banished trope requirements of sorts doesn't really change the "meta".

And no, groomer is not all I can say, its just all that Daru looks to be in the manga. 30+ years old dude starts caring for his team of teen girls the moment he became the only male in said party. Sees his dead GF in blondie, takes her on dates, and stuff. Sure you could try to convince me its him being a "fatherly" role, and probably author thought he was writing his self-insert as such, but with all that happened in this short lame manga - he failed to do so. Simply Daru looks more like a groomer than a "drunkard father rising to his fatherly role". Also AFAIK groomer is adult doing shady stuff to a child, not reverse - so Athena couldn't groom Daru ;)

I haven't read the source material, so I can't really say it would be meaningful here. I can only comment on what I see in the manga. It was only after Est left that Daru began to integrate with the group, probably because the group degenerated, instead of making progress, due to missing Est's boosting magic. Before that he was doing his part only nominally, we can presume, which means quite half-assedly. He was more interested in seeing if Athena alone can really make it big than anything else.

Nah, I don't think he had a fatherly role. His role was that of a bitter witness who wanted to see someone else succeed, as if it could somehow make up for his own past failure. It changed into atonement when he assumed a more active role. Throughout the story, he did keep himself somewhat emotionally detached, though. Like he was a teacher or a mentor. He tried to make Athena reconsider banishing Est, but when she was adamant, he simply accepted it, as if it had nothing to do with him.

Est got hurt immediately when they tried a more advanced dungeon. That's a pretty clear sign they weren't equipped to protect a group member incapable of doing anything to keep themselves safe.

Support doesn't really need to be able to keep themselves safe, thats the role of the other 3. Blondie even with buffs was to weak to do everything herself - but she shouldn't really be required to do everything solo. Daru and lesbian both had power to help the team, but they didn't use it, Daru who knows why, lesbo cause she gave zero fucks about est/Daru as all she just wanted to do is to ogle her oshi fighting. End result Est hurt and a trigger for the manga engaged :).

Daru's "mentoring" was kinda weird. Dragon/elf got some lessons, blondie was borderline groomed with all the dates and not mentioning the "NTR event" cause it could hurt her or something, or prising her like she is some kinda angel while she is a sea of issues and weaknesses. He basically mentally tormented Est till around demon ark when he finally decided to explain shit and still did it only towards Est - blondie still doesn't know why Est was so angry at her, but then with them going their separate ways there isn't much of a need for explanation for that.

In that group, the support would need to be able to defend themselves at least for a moment. Like you said, nobody in the group was going to truly look after the others. Athena had her head full of dreaming big, Daru was only in to observe Athena, and finally Mirialia was happy to get rid of competition when Est was kicked out; Est dying would have done the trick as well.

Maybe now things would be better, with Daru finally becoming a real member of the group and Mirialia probably realising, after almost dying, that if she's dead, she can't keep fantasising about Athena. Plus they did try to enhance the battle coordination in the group. But as it was, Est not being able to defend himself was a big problem because nobody else wanted to dedicate themselves to it, which would grant an enemy the single defenseless moment needed to kill him.

Daru wasn't any great guy, so obviously he would never be the best teacher. If he had a real mentor mentality, he wouldn't have acted like a half-assed team member in the beginning, at least as long as it wasn't about witnessing Athena's (possible) deeds. All he had going for him was a bit of experience and one irreversible failure, plus some life experience from being older than the rest.
