i mean depending on if the god in this world is omnipotent then ed is in fact following a preplanned route. like, this whole thing you just brought up gets into the very real philosophical discussion and question of if there is an all knowing and powerful god do people truly have free will. some say no because if a creator god knows all and has all power to control everything then by extension that god would know every choice taken by every human/animal/sentient life form to occur in the universe and that each of those choices had been pre-planned and ordained by that said god.
so if the god in this universe already knew ed would go for the exile route on round 1 and then go back again then ed has been following the path laid out to him and his actions and choices are mere illusions.

so you say that but ive read other manga that were advertisements that had opportunities to end as good as last chapter but didnt and kept going til an awkward ending cliffhanger with a message "read the light novel for more!"

How were the sales of those Manga? What about word of mouth for them? I follow this Manga in three separate languages and I still haven't read a single serious negative opinion, it's getting colored panels and everything.

Don't get me wrong, I've totally read probably the same ones as you that do that "now keep reading the novel please" but thankfully everything points that we aren't in one of those right now
