To add to what @Ankfank said, a quick research reveals that the appearance of typical modern waffles is neither exclusive to Americans nor did it even originate in America. What is American is the modern waffle iron, but the waffle pattern as we know it today predates that by centuries and came from Europe.

Even excusing the waffle-like markings, those are way too thick for crepes.

Maybe there is some remote place in the world that does crepes like that, but in the end I'm not sure why the artist went out of his way to draw the most waffle-looking crepes he could.

Also, I wonder if Ed fought Doben to separate him from his sister Mimilu to enact the stealing of his sister by the unknown group. That leopard sent by Master <name> felt hella suspicious. And iirc, his sister's abduction happened during the tournament in the prev loop, to make Doben lose to Waffles(or to just lose in general, can't remember).

What's the point of this? I am more than happy with MC kicking the crap out of this guy, but at the same time, wasn't the plan to have Waffles 1v1 him and win while MC saves this guy's sister? What's there to gain from MC beating the crap out of him right now?
