Not self insert, no overpowered mc, no harem, no revenge, no dumb generic evil ex party anymore, so far it's avoiding all the usual cliches expected from slop

Like, let's be real, the slop series are garbage but they still get popular and sell for a reason, this series doesn't deliver what you expect of the genre so I assume some disliked because of that

I also think another possible issue is not letting it cook, I didn't expect much out of this besides some dumb gag comedy but with each chapter it delivers better comedy and storytelling than 90% of what we get from "expelled from x" genre

People who rated it low and most likely dropped it are missing out

I'll be honest, when I started this manga, I thought it was going to be something completely different, and I almost didn't stick with it. But I try to give everything 2 novels worth of chapters before I yay or nay it. Glad I did with this one.

I was just thinking about it, in some previous chapter comment threads, it seems like the series started going further into the gag area that is its strong suit while having some surprising depth of characters that I generally didn't expect. I think the assassin girl backstory and banishing guild leader getting a redemption, added a lot that would be missed if people rated the story on the first 7ish chapters.
I also have a feeling some people might judge it poorly on the art and artist devolving character detail for gags and physical comedy (looking at the dog as a great example of this), I am imagining some people think it is cheap or lazy and throw the whole thing out on that alone.
Personally, I am really enjoying it so far and if it just gets better and better for the 18+ volumes... this could be the artist's defining career work.
