This actually was considered for an anime adaptation in 2019 and again in 2021 but the production committee decided both times that the teenage suicide theme (and, more importantly, the humorous treatment of the theme) makes it too risky. Looking at Wonder Egg Priority, it's probably a good thing they didn't even try. One of the issues plaguing that series' production (outside the total incompetence of management) was the constant haranguing of the studio by various activist groups in Japan. Teenage suicide is a very real and controversial problem there.

That's due to the fact that an anime is sen to be geared towards a younger audience, which is where the concern is. They are worried that talking about it will make it worse.
