You're assuming it'll change in only one direction (no hierarchy -> hierarchy), when this has little basis in theory (many processes cycle between states, not simply progress unilaterally, see chemical production) and in adjacent specific cases (views regarding sexuality have flipflopped once already in the western world, views and practices regarding usury and general rent seeking are all over the place).
