Confirmed gay MC? I guess this is beyond of "dense MC" troupe. Maybe he's too insecure and undervaluing himself, maybe he have high standard for a lover, maybe he want a woman who love the way he is, maybe he don’t want to focus on romance while in high school, maybe the author want to tease the readers. Its good he have that kind of mindset and principle, it is very human. If he lucky enough, he can find the right woman; but if he unlucky, he'll regret it later on (like when he reject Hasegawa, the guilt keep haunting him even to another world, referencing the appearance of new people he met in another world and make an excuse to help them just because they look like someone he know on previous world). Unless he overcome this and become eternal loner or stay as a gay.

Have people never heard of the concept of not wanting to date In high school and not immediately wanting to bang the nearest pretty girl next to you? I understand I’m a little strange, but if someone who I saw as a friend confessed to me then I wouldn’t think “well she’s pretty so I’ll date her, even if I don’t like her in that way”
