tsugumi isn't exactly evil but I wouldn't say she's a hero either. She clearly enjoys killing people even if her victims are evil people, and we can't exactly trust that she's a reliable narrator either. She could always insert false thoughts into the ones that she actually reads from people, and i think theres a chance she would do this to someone who actually regretted their actions. Ignore their real thoughts and make herself believe they still haven't changed because she doesn't want to give up a victim. IDK i just don't trust tsugumi completely.

Me and a lot of people: Executing a murderer: Good. That's what we have the death penalty for. And do to her psychic talents, she won't make a mistake? Great! That gets rid of the only objection to a death penalty. She's even still checking to see if the murderer felt remorse or hard turned over a new leaf? Even better! Please keep at it! In fact, let's pay her for her great work! Make sure she gets some down time and gets to hang out and have fun when not executing murderers.

Lot of other people: Executing a murderer is wrong. She needs to be stopped. She's broken and needs help.

[Edit: Clarified "Some other people" to "Lot of other people". There's a lot of people on both sides of the issue.]
Even if she can read minds, she clearly enjoys killing people even if her victims are evil. Theres no telling when she could give people false information, and I don't entirely trust that she isn't an unreliable narrator either. She could also lie to herself and lead herself to believing someone is guilty when they aren't. I think the line "I can't read my own heart either" is definitely supposed to raise some red flags lmao.

  • I see no sign that she enjoys it. It's clearly presented as a mild compulsion -- "fixing a misbuttoned shirt". Her emotional response doesn't seem to go beyond that.
  • Unreliable narrator: Again, no indication of that, and no reason to suspect that.
  • "Not fully understanding myself" is not at all the same thing as "living in total delusion".
Seems to me that you have a hard time accepting a story about clearly justified executions, so you're trying to rewrite the story for fit your ethos.

The detective is hella funny.
the whole monologue about "buh huh, i judged the innocents guy", process to judge MC as TRUE MONSTER 3 second later  lol what ?
Worst is, He was about to do the same shit and almost kill an innocent guy. MC at least, not only give the family, this detective closure, she saved a innocents life, and prevent a good men from being a murder. What the Detective would do, at best only for punished the culprit. Heck she even give every "wrong button" a last chance, i don't believe the detective plan to do the same
Imo it was because he saw himself in her that he wanted to report her. He was projecting his own faults onto her. It's the same reason he wanted to punish Anita for so long.
