I hope she dies for realSo, Hayami can regenerate from being dismembered. Cool.
I seriously doubt that, since there's another 3.5 volumes to go, and it's ongoing.I hope she dies for real
I just like being a haterI seriously doubt that, since there's another 3.5 volumes to go, and it's ongoing.
On page 11, the phrase for "The Devil's Followers" is 悪魔の証明者, which I’m pretty sure means something like "The Devil's Proofer"
I think this is a reference to Probatio Diabolica (Devil's Proof), a type of logical fallacy or impossible task where one is asked to prove something that cannot logically be proven
This term does get brought up in a later chapter, but I don’t think it’s that important
Also, "The Pious" and "God's Disciple" both use the same word (信奉者), so why not just simplify it to "believers" instead?
So, according to the woman at the beginning:
- Inukai => the disloyal lamb
- Tamemizu Shouko => the pious
- Nakazono Natsume => the greedy
- Tomoyama Arata => ... (not addressed directly, but we could assume he is the devil's follower)
that's a great question, put a pin on thatWait thou, did they just kill him or has he been dead all this time?
I'm just reiterating what the woman at the beginning saysDon't think that's quite correct. Seems to me like Tomoyama Arata, Nakazono Natsume, and Tamemizu Shouko all fall into the "individuals eager for knowledge" category, though Tamemizu Shouko falls into the overlap with "God's disciples". In particular, page 12 suggests that "the Devil's followers" was a separate group of students who frequented the sacrificial mountain in the past before going missing (sacrificed themselves? destroyed by God's disciples? just somewhere else?).
While a lot of people seem to get confused by the story, the various reveals really do make rereading rewarding because the author clearly has a story in mind. Inukai’s frustration isn’t a random plot point but is built off of what we knew from Tamemizu from the beginning. She views interactions with Hayami as defilement—Inukai’s desire to “complete” Hayami is in opposition to that. That’s hardly foreshadowing, but Tamemizu’s initial appearance (specifically ch. 16) has her talking about the importance of ears and trying to cut off Arata’s left ear—the one Inukai seems to be claiming has a connection to the “divine” Hayami. Tamemizu also claims that having only one ear makes you a sinner, and while there are a few different ways to interpret it, the fact that a sinner would only be able to hear the whispers of “the devil’s followers” checks outI...
I'm going to have to go back through and reread every chapter to see if Hayami is consistently whispering into one of Tomoyama's ears in particular, aren't I?
Goddamnit.
