Why tho? I genuinely didn't know since I'm not a native english speaker
I mean, I have been using the term(s) male and female all my life and I don't see anyone pointing this out to me
I’m not saying it’s wrong to say male or female. It just seems more like a descriptive technical term to me… and how it’s actually used. It sounds weird to actually say ‘I saw a black male today’ instead of just saying ‘I saw a black man today’. You’re not speaking specifically in a profession that warrants use of those words themselves. It’s just a normal conversion.
Furthermore, when you say ‘male’ or ‘female’, you’re actually using adjectives as nouns(and yes the dictionary does consider them noun, secondarily, and professional use cases like policemen, biologist etc). ‘Man’ and ‘woman’ are predefined nouns, that are simpler to use and doesn’t make people sound like specimens. That kind of speech pattern is something you learn on Twitter, where people devalue each other. It first began with extreme misogynists using ‘females’, then extreme feminist started using ‘males’ too.
I just have a gribble with those words being thrown around like that because it kind of devalues humans. AGAIN, I ONLY HAVE A gribble WITH IT. You can use it if you want.
