This volume may be the best in the manga yet, after like 200 chapters of Tsuyoshi being invincible Teru locking in and giving him a really good fight is amazing. They could have written it so his brother was the one to do this but it is so much more satisfying with Teru because he's the one who's life was so changed by Tsuyoshi.
Also even though Tsuyoshi is weaker the fact that he beat his brother basically effortlessly still shows that what Teru's doing now is still really amazing

He went from extreme introvert to extreme extravert as a rebelion against his mother. Basically he's become overconfident and underestimating towards his opponents.
Honestly I don't like this arc either. Kawabata is being used again and again. It's very contrasting to how he was during ship abduction, where he truly stood up for himself and finally got some revenge on people trying to treat him like a tool. Buuuut we're here now. He's being used by the old guy and there's also his parents waiting in the background to use him once this is over.

Lol don't mistake a shitty haircut and some flashy clothes for confidence, Tsuyoshi is in a guilded cage being used by that evil old man and is fighting his friends who are risking their health to get him out of that situation. His real dream is to become an artist, he isn't making any progress towards that partying and spending money.
As someone who's life got ruined because Tsuyoshi was punishing him for working with evil people, Teru is absolutely within his rights to judge Tsuyoshi by his own statements, measure for measure.

Teru really is doing it! Idk if he'll win but the fact that he even has a chance of winning is crazy. Tsuyoshi's mom as well just who the fuck is she? No matter how strong you are no one can beat an Asian mom. From that flash back kinda scene it looks like she might be descended from some priests/miko or something maybe? She easily extracted the venom.

This. He went from friends/spies who were wary of him or trying to use him, to club hopping culture and more upfront people trying to use him. The only good I see from the second group is that they helped him to socialize with (hopefully) normal people.

Teru usually dies in a manga, like Teru from Uchuujin no Kakushigoto.Tsuyoshi being too nervous to fight properly give Teru a chance to give him some sense
This Teru is a goated version, turning from loser to fatass to dumbass to losing to losing weight to hero.

I say this as easily the biggest Teru hater in this entire tiny fandom. I couldn’t agree more with you on this one. Did I want Karate Bro to be the one to snap The MC out of it? Yes I’m not even gonna lie about that but this is significantly better.
Cuz not only is it
- an effective twist
- already foreshadowed by his dad’s comment after the Bro vs Bro fight on top of all the barhopping flashbacks we’ve been getting where we see him build up a fake persona
- serves as MASSIVE pay off after 200 chapters of Teru just being an annoying unchanging hypocritical dick, but fuckin hilarious, that the biggest joke in the entire series ends up, snapping the main character out of his funk.
It works perfectly when you pay attention to all the details even if you hate Teru’s guts as much as I do. THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE is unironically PEAK writing for a ComedyMartial Arts Manga!

at this point teru is the one who has observed tsuyoshi fight the most and the one that understands him more than anyone. With both him and Okouchi pushing Tsuyoshi to free himself from two different things (mother and okouchi) they will probably take tsuyoshi to the next level of freedom.
