like, if they can guarantee enough sell, sure, but it's an upfront cost where they can't be certain of what the sale numbers are, so it's really a gamble to make plush of these two characters. and, even if they did, they'd probably only be able to ship within japan itself as they just wouldn't make money shipping internationally.

also, often, the way in which social systems change isn't by making them less oppressive, but changing the composition of the oppressed and the method of their oppression.

systems of oppression often replace each other more often than they are done away entirely (not that this can't be done). feudalism didn't give way to the regime of liberty, but to capitalism.
