This is pretty true to the experience of acclimating to Twitter. Especially back during the day when it was 140 characters and EVERYTHING counted against those. That said, it doesn't even get close to the biggest problem with Twitter (yet): how horrible some of the users are, and how Twitter itself literally does almost nothing about them.

Twitter has the same problem as Youtube: lots of jerks, and a company that refuses to do anything about them. So, like kids who never get disciplined or who only get idle threats that aren't followed through on, they learn to just do what they want, no matter how horrible it is. If you're not on Twitter, unless you only plan to follow the most innocuous, harmless things on there without even a shred of controversy (and you'd be unpleasantly surprised at how controversial some seemingly bland things are) I DO NOT suggest getting on Twitter.
