I have bought the manga myself and am motivated to read the damn thing myself, learning Japanese almost completely from scratch. Wish me luck and, hopefully, I can look back on this English translation in gratitude.

(Wow, I must have written that previous message right before the forums were temporarily shut down... What a journey it has been since then!)
This series is the only one where the anime left me so devastated that I had to find out if the manga would leave any pieces to mend my aching heart. For the readers coming straight from the anime, there are plenty of good moments depicted in the manga too! (Although, in my opinion, the scene with Hiroshi in Shodoshima was made funnier in the anime over the manga...)
