To be fair to ueno, nobody was expecting that shit. He could’ve well just been frozen from shock, and considering his character so far, that seems fitting as a reaction to something he wouldn’t ever expect. sure, but it was definitely framed more like he was subconsciously devaluing her because of it, like he was hurt and betrayed by it, which is stupid. if you look at the yankee girl, she also shows shock in one panel (the one before she grimaces and grabs the dude), but the facial expression and the eyes are different, and it's not just because they're 2 different characters or that their personalities are different. it's more about their thoughts; he has pitch black, hollow eyes because he feels betrayed, in addition to just being shocked. the way he focuses on the word "developed", too.

It's funny to me that Tsubomi is still the only one who came to that realization and felt slightly remorseful(hence why she stopped herself from calling Ueno her friend). Just another reason why she's best girl of the bunch.
