Oh if only s/he knew homosexuality was a thing it could save so much stress. These unfortunate Japanese kids and their poor education.

Loved her attempt at looking cross on p6, so adorable.
It happens everywhere. Sure, queer things may be public knowledge in a country, but sex ed is awful pretty much all the time. Queer things get deprioritized because the people who set curriculum don't ever think about them or think it's a waste of resources.

And then gender things are even worse.

I do want to say it's good to remember the target audience for this manga are teen girls to young women. This sort of romantic "idiot plot" is amusing and intriguing for them in a way that's likely more frustration inducing to an older reader. Not just that but this manga is actually doing very well going by Ciao's statistics.

... what are teen girls even doing reading genderswap with some fanservice? Hey I won't judge the new extremely based generation if you don't.
Yeah, I was shocked to find out it’s a gender bending manga from a shojo publisher of all places and that it’s their number 1 series now is even more of a shock.

Based ass Japanese children/teen girls, keep doing what you are doing y’all

Kei-chan can fit all that hair in a little ball. She needs to hide it under a hat to look more like a boy, but pull off the hat and the hair down for dramatic effect--and not the kind this chapter ended on.
If chapter 6.5 is any indication, the hat would fly off or even burst into shreds the moment she put it on. It's not just that Keisuke can't cut her hair, it that she has to look like "how [she] believes a girl should be", so anything that would make her "look like a boy" is doomed to fail.

I think using AI is good for cleaning up the scans, if it makes it less painful to clean it up.
Wish this was true but based on personal experience - it usually produces more issues rather than be of help... The only time use of AI which would have been actually helpful and its not sadly...

I think Ciao is actually aimed at elementary-school girls, even — which explains why its manga have basically no international fandom and include a lot of Aikatsu and Pretty Rhythm tie-ins. Dunno if Ciao Plus targets an older crowd, though.

(By comparison, look at how many of Ribon’s manga have gotten US releases and/or anime adaptations.)

Thank you for the TL!

The November issue of Ciao curiously comes with Ranma 1/2 stickers to commemorate the new anime. I wonder if Uesugi-kun's popularity is the reason. The children yearn for genderbend animanga...
