As a resident fat ass of the male variety. I do not keep my phone in my back pocket because I'd end up with a broken phone. I will never understand why anyone puts their phone there.
Not a back pocket phone guy but even when I put it in the front pocket I take it out and put it on the table/desk whatever before I sit down.

My first forum post…
Anyways this chapter is great and it really adds to Uesugi’s character development. Can’t wait for the next chapter!!!

I appreciate a genderswap story that doesn't make the now-girl suddenly useless. Keisuke is even smaller, but retains all muscle memory, general physical agility, and athleticism. Someone recruit her for the track team, seriously.
A friend of mine pointed out something interesting -- it's possible she's more limber and coordinated than before. Remember how Eito had to catch her in the first scene in chapter 1 when she was still a guy? That's interesting because you'd think having a totally different body from the one you grew up in would result in the opposite.

Idk about you but I keep my phone inside my shirt pocket.
My dad wasn't fat, but when he first got a smartphone he would keep it in his front pocket... and drop it every time he leaned forward. Mom and I got him the heaviest duty cases we could and they saved the phone and the screen, amazingly enough, but he went through 2 - 3 cases per phone until he finally stopped carrying it in his shirt pocket. He utterly destroyed the cases, too, but that's what they were for.

Ironically the largification of smartphones is what forced him to stop. On his last phone he didn't destroy the case, although I ended up having to replace it because the inner rubber protection layer had started decaying and OtterBox's "lifetime warranty" turned out to be "only until we stop selling the case, even though we're still selling it on Amazon".
me neither, or anyone guy or girl, where I am from having something besides small things in your back pocket is uncommon in general, and a phone just sounds uncomfortable to sit on.
I have a friend who takes his wallet out of his pocket when driving in his car, even though he isn't one of those guys who have wallets that are packed full of crap. Apparently it's bad for your back to sit on it and he has back problems, so he avoids doing so as much as possible. I doubt sitting on a smartphone's any better for people's backs.

And I've personally never seen anyone that had their phone in their back pocket. Practically it's really stupid, as Uesugi demonstrated here. It makes them very easy for someone to grab them and run away. Uesugi could have just vanished and never given them back if he'd wanted to, circling around to get Noel once he lost the guys. Two free phiPhones!

I really appreciate that they didn't do the trope of Eito showing up to rescue them. That's what I was expecting and I was very pleasantly surprised.

Doing the same sleazy creepy guy trope twice in a row is crazy, and it getting worse is even crazier

This trope of guys hitting on random girls needs to die away. I don't enjoy it all as it annoying and cringe seeing two random mob characters trying to disturb the main characters enjoy themselves. Good thing the author of Onimai (which is my fav TS manga) did not include this trope and force it to Mahiro and 'her' friends.

Unfortunately, catcalling and sleazy pickup artists are fairly common phenomenon IRL, and as long as that's the case, I think there's merit to media going out of its way to condemn the practice. Sure, dudes who do that kind of stuff probably aren't reading this - or very much of anything that cares about the female perspective - but if enough of us can channel our anger at seeing pickup artists here into calling them out whenever we see them in the wild, the risk of being publicly shamed will encourage a lot of them to stop.

Very well said -- a fish out of water story confronting the experience being a woman would almost necessarily be incomplete without confronting the really of dealing with creeps. I think, though, what people dislike about the trope is two things:

1. It's usually VERY sudden and abrupt, pacing-wise. The equivalent of someone running into the scene waving a gun
2. Even most sleazy pickup artists don't escalate to outright assault, but 99% of the ones in TSF (genderswap) works do

Like the frequency of both this trope and its severity I think has gotten to the point it breaks immersion. Though by far this chapter was one of the best uses of it. (the playboys being more frat-like than monstrous and the sweet sweet comeuppance they get from an intended target)

While what happened in this manga was an exaggeration for the sake of comedy, in Japan, the issues with Nanpa have gotten worse in the last decade (You can now even find them online: ネットナンパ) , to the point that you can even find foreigners involved in it nowadays. It makes sense that the severity has increased in manga.

The stories you can read on Japanese girls' forums are seriously scary. Hell, not just in Japanese; just search for Nanpa in any of the big Japanese subreddits, and you can find all kinds of stories from foreigners living there too.

I cant say anything but major skill issue here. There is a trick to not getting your phone to slip its called being able to feel your phone slipping when you bend forwards.

Jumping into the phone in pocket question.

The simple answer is it depends on the situation and attire.

Girls often put phones in back pocket, because other than purses that usually is the only option, since slimmer/physique hugging clothes and generous side pockets do not mix.(and clothes with large side pockets are less popular in general).

Where I am from guys including myself typically put it in other pockets(shirt, suit, side/front, cargo, holster(older people or trade workers), etc).

However in some instances such as large smartphone or less roomy pants/shorts back pocket may be used. Sometimes if it's needed for "quickdraw" it might go back pocket.

Or in my situation, it sometimes goes back pocket when my front pockets are used for tools, writing utensils, etc during work.

I never have it back pocket when doing anything not on my feet and moving normally. Sitting on it is uncomfortable and could damage it, running or hiking is a recipe for it to have a greater chance of falling out and getting damaged. Additionally depending on environment, back pocket can build up more moisture which is another downside.

No clue about JP culture though, as they have a number of differences. For example to my knowledge it's still somewhat common for them to still use handkerchiefs, while here in the west that has largely been phased out.

Tldr:
Anecdotally where I am from, most guys I personally know typically don't use back pocket. It's not that back pocket is necessarily strange or weird, just seems to be manner of preference that is less common.

I can see it maybe being more of a thing in Japan since they often don't end up sitting as often or as long as we do in NA, but yea having the phone in the back pocket is just asking to snap it when you sit down on anything hard

And thar be the mandatory shoujo thugs. Some people just don't know to mind their own damned business.

I would only carry gloves in my back pockets, never something as valuable as a phone.

Unlikely to happen (a manga can only be so based) but what if Eito feels left out and uses his wish to be one of the girls too?

... nah, I'm just getting greedy and fantasizing about how to include the good boy without compromising on the TS yuri. But it would be cute to have the three childhood friends reunite as besties.
from romance to silly pure slice of life would be funny
