I realise I'm overanalysing this sort of story, but Jade should really get a grip on himself. He's putting Garnet in a difficult spot by raising her on such a pedastal and basically worshipping her as a goddess. The problem is that she would need to live up to such treatment. It's not even his intention and he certainly doesn't want to make things difficult for her, but that's what he's doing, unintentionally. You can see in this chapter she would like have a more relaxed and practical relationship with him, but as long as he's keeping his distance due to treating her like a goddess, it's impossible.
