Huh. My surgeon had me take stool softeners from the moment I was allowed to eat actual food, since this is a known issue. Never had any problem peeing though (they kept the catheter in for about 6 days). Once I started peeing, I had to blot with tissue rather than wipe so as to not stress the stitching around the urethra, and even so there was occasional bleeding.
