We were told that Ange gets sick pretty frequently and has missed family conferences before. And I think for 1986 she got sick a couple days beforehand. It's still a bit of a plot hole, but theoretically Ange is such a small influence on her murder plans that her absence doesn't need that much revision.

I still love Umineko so this reply just makes me want to reread it! It’s been a really long time so maybe my reply will be wrong.

You’re right. I guess to solve the plot hole, there should be a chapter where it’s Shanon’s story where Ange also joins them. So Sharon actually prepares two type of stories, one Ange didn’t join and one she did

Yeah you should definitely reread it when you have time! A lot of the magic scenes, especially the ones involving George and Jessica, read a lot differently after I understood Beatrice's inner conflict.
