Did I read that right, she's 17?! I was under the impression they were middle schoolers. Her actions thus far have felt very childish (it is a fictional story, but c'mon). I'd still rather her to have a familial relationship with the doctor, but at least it's not as creepy knowing that she's not 13-14 years old.

@punkeybird I'm not quite sure how a familial relationship between them would work, though. If the story went down that route, it would end up being just a friendship, most likely a temporary one when she moves forward in her life after high school. There's no way she would remain living with her scumbag dad. She ought to move somewhere far away. Then she would forget the doctor soon enough, naturally, when her life was filled with new things and new, local acquaintances. Obviously it would still be a happy end for her, with the doctor helping her a lot. Not so much a happy end for the doctor, though, as his chances with women seem slim.
