I previously thought this series was pretty grounded but now this is definitely weirder than Naruto.

HOOOOOLLLYY fuck man this is one of those “Remember that one weird look given to that person who appeared in the back of a few pages like 16 chapters ago, now pay attention to how everyone has been drinking beer and in what locations they were since then: that gives you a clue to whats happening” type manga.

at what point was this NOT weirder than naruto? :shamihuh:
Not the guy you replied to, but imo this series was always weird. It's just that weirdness was always grounded in science fiction concepts. Invisibility suits and Orbital strikes aren't realistic by today's standards, but they're at least backed by plausible physics.

Naruto, with its jutsus and chakra, was arguably more fantasy-like, but now that we're getting genjutsu handshakes we're starting to leave the realm of science fiction. Unless they hand wave it away with something like nanomachines hijacking their optic nerves or some shit.

It could be something like he secretes hallucinogens through his skin.

Woudn't you consider hypnosis as a form of genjustu as well?, also that thing that ninja from UN does, where he "disappears" but is actually making people blank for the seconds it takes him to arrive or leave.
Also on a different topic, I hope hibi is aware of how lucky he is, because the amount of times he would have died if not for the intervention of one of the kumogakure is crazy.

Hypnosis like that isn't real though, it's pseudoscience quackery on the level of Chiropractic care. And yeah, the meeting where they explained peoples memories are being blanked & rewritten is where the series really started to dial up the craziness
