One of my absolute favorites. Tetsuya Toyoda is vastly underrated.

What a fantastic piece of work. The melancholic feeling imbued throughout the pages; the subtle undercurrent of mystery and intrigue. The longing for a shared past that never existed. And that ending. Boy was it a great ride.

Why doesn't this author have more works under his belt? It seems like he only has 4 published works, two of which are short story anthologies, and another is a commissioned piece for Mushishi. This is his only original standalone work, and what a great piece of work it is.

Short, sad, very bittersweet but sweet none the less. Excellent one volume work.

When I first read this manga, I sort of just left. No rating, no comment and no reflection. Yet here I am again

I think this manga portrays such a strong melancholic emotion that it's hard to focus on anything else. The story moves at a seemingly uninterested pace as if reaching its end isn't important. The characters are quite and trance like.
Then, it's over. Not some big reveal or superficial lesson but a peaceful confrontation and goodbye. As you close the story you notice the lingering emotions left behind
. The author did an amazing job of moving emotions to page and I wish to see more of his work in the future.

8/10

A mature approach to the hedgehog's dilemma with polished storytelling, digestible pacing, and believable character development. What more could you ask for?
