"You should also be present here." - like hell she should. Bringing a presumed kidnapping target before the kidnapper? Why? So she's likely to catch an arrow to the face when things don't go well for the raiders and it turns into all out battle? This is too much even for lawful stupid and that goes for both sides - the raiders allowed a soldier to go back to the fort to fetch the woman, didn't it occur to them that he'd simply come back with reinforcements? The fact that he actually didn't is just icing on the cake...

She obviously has something to do with the giant entity that appeared, maybe even is the thing in human form. Since said entity is connected to the raiders' ancestors, the leader probably knew what was up and likely wanted to use it against Oscar's armies, whom they cannot beat on their own.

It makes her still retain her own agency, rather than be some cardboard plot device character. I like it.
