Although, she’s not wrong, she’s very likely making more enemies than not with her “everybody can fuck off” attitude. I’m sure many more people would be likely to leave her alone than actively bully her if she’d tone it down a bit. But her demeanor in general though reminds me of people who get bullied. It’s a very lonely experience and self-isolation (keeping people away before they hurt her) is probably a defense mechanism. Unfortunately, it makes her look like an ass and makes her an even bigger target for bullying, so it’s hard to watch.

She isn’t wrong about the friend aspect, though. It’s probably really hard to maintain friendships and set boundaries when she knows that everybody knows exactly how wealthy her family is. There’s probably a flashback coming our way to explain why she has some deep seated trust issues.

Also, some STRONG implications of how she may react if they actually become close and she finds out he was paid to protect her. Hurts my heart just thinking about it.

it's been a while since my opinion of an MC swung so wildly in the span of 2 chapters, from "hell yeah" to "ew bye." Like I get she has trust issues because of her family's massive wealth, but then using said wealth to put down people like the ML who are at least superficially trying to help her doesn't make her a more sympathetic character at all. Like you don't have to become friends with someone who took the (flowerpot) hit for you, but you also don't need to flip them off for it while they're bleeding from their face. For someone coming from such material wealth she is an emotional miser, which I guess is the point but still grates my nerves.
