I'm a big lurker and I get terrified to comment. Despite that, I wanted to say I've been reading this for a while and I love it. I love how "Until I become me" makes me think, I routinely check to see if there is a new chapter posted. Though there likely are better means for me to check.

So, I want to thank whoever creates the opportunity for me to read this. I don't think id be able to get to the position to translate a work like this. And I deeply thank any person involved in the work that's allows me to read and enjoy.

I finally completed all chapter and as PiperJBats say, I wants to thanks to all who has made a translator for this manga. I have a lot of respect for those who took the trouble to translate this manga, I know it's quite difficult which I know I can't do. Even now I don't understand how to read this kanji language, so I respect very much and thank those who have translated it. And U forgot that thanks to the Author this manga, it was great manga that make me appreciate to read it. I will give 10/10 for this manga. Arigatou khuzaimasu 🙇🏻‍♂️

But I have the questions,

i. Is this manga already finished or still ongoing?
ii. When new chapter will be uploaded?
ii. How many months will it come out for the new chapter? (I hope it will release a new chapter once a month 🥺)

I hope anyone who read this can reply my comment and hopefully any studio can adapt this manga to be an Anime one day.

I. The manga "Until I Become Me" is still ongoing.
II. The time varies according to when the Japanese mangaka releases a new chapter or volume, who is translating the manga from Japanese to English, and how fast they do so.
III. There are two translators of this manga posting to MangaDex. The one posts a new chapter about every 4-5 months. The last chapter posted by this person was Chapter 65. The other translator posts a new Chapter about every 1-2 months. The last chapter posted by this other person was Chapter 48.

Smileguy is the faster one and he caught up a long time ago.
Its just the mangaka is kinda slow at releasing new chapters to even translate.

I assume you mean Ch 38. I honestly got a little bit carried away with that one, I spent too much time looking up what "Marika" was supposed to mean that I Forgot the most obvious choice.
Anyways, it's been corrected, and it now the images have a lot higher quality for reaons I'm not really sure.

Pretty bad. I was fooled by the mad reviews this title is getting. The first chapter is good and implies the series will be hard hitting with deep insight like "A Silent Voice" or "Takopi's Original Sin". But then the rest of the manga is just bland, shallow, awkward navel-gazing. It's one thing for the MC to struggle with dysphoria, but the MC never does or thinks anything.

For example, like halfway through, the MC realizes that tomboys exist and that girls can do traditionally boyish things. First, what a deep philosophy to spend twenty chapters building towards, but second, and most damningly, the MC doesn't do anything after her realization. A large component of the MC's malaise was being unable to participate in the activities that she had enjoyed as a boy. But when handed a golden ticket, then MC doesn't resume those activities. Worse, she doesn't even try.

(Like, it would be interesting if the MC tried to participate and was rejected, sparking a new round of different navel-gazing. Being psychological or introspective is fine for a manga, being boring is not.)

I guess most readers like this manga because they "feel so seen" or something. Personally, I found it an extraordinarily frustrating and disappointing read. (which is why I wrote a novel to vent, lol)
I think this is kind of a misreading of what the central conflict for the MC is tho. "Wanting to do stuff they did as a boy" is a very small point of the larger issue they're grappling with which is "what it even means to be a boy or girl" and how that identity of gender ties into their identity of self. They never really needed a golden ticket to do boyish things, nobody was explicitly holding them back from doing that (if anything they were encouraged/expected at many points to be more gnc), and the ticket is more a conflict with the realization that they're kinda okay with being a girl and they're not sure how they want to act or who they want to be anymore. Saying that the MC never does or thinks anything is weird because I feel like so much of the manga is just them thinking over and over about the different aspects of who they are.

Societal pressure vs inner desires is the trans experience, but it's interesting in that this story really jumbles it up by having both external and internal gender norms/desires push and pull both ways. In a lot of ways it really is a reverse trans manga; instead of an MC who has their inner resolve tested against the rigidity of society and biology, it's an MC who is having their inner resolve consistently built up and changed by a flexible environment and a situation that is sorta open to whichever path they choose. Instead of feeling a certain gender identity and learning what it means to be trans, it's the opposite, being trans first and then having to learn what gender identity even is and what they want it to be. And I appreciate that it handles it pretty slowly and grounded. It's not gonna be everyone's pacing cup of tea, but given that it's very much from Akira's perspective, the unsure and awkward way they navigate through their circumstances feels appropriate and much less garish than other traditional gender benders. There are few manga that focus on navigating the internal conflict of gender as opposed to the external pressure of gender and even fewer that do it in a way that isn't particularly heavy handed or overbearing so I can see why it resonates to a lot of people.

Manga that are relentless at attacking easy emotional moments are a very different vibe and I think it's fine to have both the obvious high drama tearjerkers and these more slice of life introspective ones. And if you just want heavy hitting drama punches, I think it's also unfair because most of the big conflict points have yet to be addressed head on much at all. They only just revealed their secret to any of their friends and gotten to talk to other genderswapped kids, they've yet to really talk with their parents or truly solidify their future, and, maybe most importantly, they haven't run into Nana or any of the original classmates yet. Maybe wait until it's finished before comparing it to other finished manga.

So heavy-handed it might have been written by a 14y old taking a shit. And if that wasn't enough the scannies also went full retard on the translation.
