This is basically the situation created by the Japanese reality where eating out is cheap, despite the food being good and healthy (if you want it to be). Stores also sell a lot of those bento boxes for a decent price. So, you don't ever need to cook at home if you don't want to, especially if you don't have kids. Naturally Japan has all the same delivery food options as any other country would have. Aside from pizza, I imagine they aren't even that expensive. Where I live, eating out is basically a luxury (aside from workplace cafeterias and such), so people tend to always have something to eat also back home and cooking something simple isn't considered rocket science like in Japan.
