Anyways, this was kinda shitty. I liked it until the beach part, her falling in love with the blank self insert MC was garbage and out of nowhere, her falling in love with Kano was better and the friend should have been just the friend character who should have been our PoV and nothing else. Kano actually falling for her would've been way better. Very disappointed.

I agree the 180 with Kano was contrived; the fact that Hayami didn't talk to Kano about what he said was unfortunate (as there is ambiguity on whether he meant he wasn't interested in Hayami since "he is a guy", or assumed Hayami wasn't interested in him for a similar reason).

I'm mainly glad Hayami feels happy, to be clear. I don't think either of the two interests is too special as characters go; both the MC and Kano only got one scene each where I feel they were acting cool. The MC is very much a blank slate, and Kano had very few pages given how the manga was written, so... yeah.

Hayami actually earlier says the MC treated her the same in Ch.7, but that smile is far less natural so the chemistry with Kano might have just been better. In any case, I agree it was quite opportunistic of the MC when he dove in.
