So if I'm reading things correctly, the last page seems to imply that the fireworks festival wasn't actually a regular thing. The guy who wanted to do the fireworks festival suddenly got confused why he wanted to do one so badly when they've never done it before.

And the reason is because there was some evil ghost/demon thing that got sealed away by these girls, but the fireworks were a way to unseal the demon (which is why the ghost girls were trying to stop the fireworks from happening), and so when the fireworks happened, everyone who saw them died due to the demon being unleashed.

I guess that's what happened?

Also the detective really isn't normal after all, huh. I wonder when we'll explore what her deal is.

1. Oni killed people back in the day
2. Girls sacrificed and buried to seal oni
3. Oni aura psychologically manipulates people into releasing it
4. Girls prevent fireworks transportation to protect the people, but their protection is broken when the dude opened their grave box
5. No girls so fireworks transported safely
6. Fireworks festival occurs for the first and only time, oni is released, people die

Also: chacha is still messed up from that time and yume has downgraded to more realistic expectations about saving people

OK I get it now.

200 years ago the demon killed a bunch of people every year.

The town held a sacrifice with the girls and that sealed the demon.

After that people stopped dying, and the fireworks festival didn't actually happen at all. We along with the mcs just assumed the firework festival happens annually and keeps the demon sealed every year, because of what the villager said (but he's lying cuz the demon is manipulating his memories)

This year, the demon possessed people into holding a fireworks festival (which is actually the first one in 200 years), and we along with chacha and mcs assumed that the fireworks festival is to continue the demon seal, but actually it's a ritual to unseal the demon.

She went to investigate Yume's parents, but came back basically comatose, however the Q scientists helped to "fix" her. Ever since then she's been acting a little odd.

Seems more that the festival ISN'T a thing. The girls were sacrificed to seal the oni, and every year it seems like it tries to make the fireworks show happen so it can break free. This is the first time a rally has actually happened in 200 years, and look what happened.

Actually, the girls may not have been sacrificed as a seal, but more like guards to stop the rally. The oni's appearance seems tied to the rally specifically, since it only manifested and killed people once it began.

Edit: saw you left another comment saying you got it now. Leaving this because I just think the second part is a neat possibility.

This doesn't work well for parents... There comes a time in any parents life where their kids are just being creepy assholes telling you not to clean them, brush their teeth, turn off the Switch, etc... You just have to risk the curse
