Ruh roh.

Okay so like I am of two minds here because obviously there are ghosts around but also what if this is a parasite situation where the poor who got forced out are taking their chances and Hama has just been taken normal hostage and the ghosts are red herrings.

I'm guessing that the people holding Hama at the end there are actual people and not ghosts. Wouldn't explain the long ash figure from last chapter though.

Puts hand to forehead. My moneys on 'fire was not even remotely an accident'. Maybe even to force them out of the property bc someone wouldnt sell. Japanese real estate seems gnarly.

Show of hands, who thinks there is a chance the old apartments were set on fire because the tenants couldn't or refused to move out and they wanted to build this place? Or this is all some weird sacrifice scheme. Or if either way, the ghosts are trying to warn people.

I could see this being a swerve situation in that the ghosts aren't the bad guys. There wasn't any bad smell coming from either encounter last episode.
Same vibes here. The way they were holding Hama reeks very much of a "don't panic, just listen and we'll tell you everything" scenario rather than a "haha we got you now" hostage moment. Greys don't usually take hostages, and they generally don't prolong things.

The real horror is gated community. It fits too well with the author's politics for the real horror to not be gated community.
