I am, currently, that overexcited girl. LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO
I love this. I love the playing with the format. I love that the regular main characters are only here as side characters. But them being here gives us a sense of foreboding, does it not? We now have utter confirmation that, indeed, this place is haunted in some way. And of course those two can't die, but two random high school seniors? Their fates are totally up in the air. We're sure that Yume and Nagomi will do their level best to save the customers, but we also know from past stories that their level best isn't always enough...
I gotta once again compliment the mangaka for not resting on his flowers. Never getting content with the story as it is. Always being willing to push to strange new places. Horror is a genre that flows easily into cycles and tropes, the same stories with the skin shared out. I gotta appreciate how this story, for as long as it's been going on, it's managed to avoid that from the very beginning.
Also, this is yet another story that's just good on its face. The story of two high school girls unsure what comes next serves nicely as a metaphor for the situation Yume and Nagomi are in themselves: as they draw closer to their goal, they grow less certain about what comes next, and whether the two of them will separate once more.
