Hough, the expression that accompanied The Reveal. I will say I kind of like that this guy turned out to already be a shitbag- makes more sense why he's fine sacrificing people. Also Mariko's dialogue having the 'um ahs' is great kid dialogue- you get a lot of that.

Nostalgia can be gross. I knew someone whose father beat them badly when they were young, regularly too. And then when the dad got older, it all just slipped away from his mind... nostalgia, huh? For better times. Simpler times. Not like the silly world of today, in which his kid doesn't talk to him... it's a little sad.

Anyway, it's a bit of the "unknown god-predator" story (think aquarium, think supermarket, etc.) and a bit of the "don't try to flee from reality" story.

Still extremely confused by the big face. Just seeing someone who was on the other side, I guess?

wow okay, not a bad arc I suppose and the pedophile got what was coming to him. Though... what are they talking about afterwards? like "...you found your parents more of less huh?" what? when did that happen? and whose parents are they talking about in this moment? HUH??? I feel like I missed something.

I think "more or less" either implies that they have aged while she hasn't or that she's from a parallel dimension.

On a re-read, for anyone confused, what other posters are sayin' is true- japanese language sense of subject is contextual. So stuff like the dialogue about the parents is probably like. '(someone) found/got back to (her) parents, huh?'. You kind of have to guess at the meaning; but in this case context makes it clear it's the kid.

This is why you gotta be grateful to translator/localizers, for every one time something like this slips through there's dozens of times they figured out the subject correctly. Thank you for your hard work!
