ahhahaha, love it when the monsters break the rules. That's the one comfort in horror. Learn the rules and you survive. Follow the rules and you survive. Survive and escape. In American horror, that usually means research. Academicians, libraries, field work. Yagi-san type stuff. In J-horror, it generally means "avoid things and keep your head down, follow tradition and don't step outside societal norms." I do enjoy that in this story, our protagonist's powers means that we get to subvert that trope regularly
