So it was indeed an (attempted) body swap.

Nice to see though that this actually had a happy ending! The dude who tried to swap with the baby got his karma at the end, and the baby returned to her body and lived a fulfilling life. Can't get any better than that in this manga's universe lol.

Though, I thought the parents were rich? Why was the daughter riddled with money problems after they died? She should have had an inheritance... though I suppose maybe they were rich due to shady dealings that fell through when they died. After all they did hire a bunch of gray workers to babysit for them.

The parents were probably not in on it. In this chapter you see that the culprit pretended to represent them when he called the actual babysitters (a married couple) and cancelled. In the first chapter, the parents were still under the impression that the babysitters were a married couple, hence the funny conversation with Yume and Hama. What probably happened was that the culprit chose to hire gray workers for his sacrifice.

Surprisingly a good clear cut ending chapter. Unfortunately her parents didnt made it later in life.
Her parents are innocent, its was all creepy fuckers doing. The work problems issue was also definitely his doing as well, the parents returned as soon as possible once they saw there was nothing actually wrong.

The parents were rich professionals, so the cashflow would have ended when they died. Whatever inheritance they left would have been expended by the time she'd grown up. It's a common problem in Japan because the ward system's financial support can't be used by orphan children of upper-middle-class families. The assumption is that these children wouldn't need the money for a while and children of lower-income families should be prioritized. This of course would leave most of these formerly wealthy children penniless by the time they'd finished college.

The irony here is that the shithead actually picked the wrong baby, although he obviously didn't know it at the time. He was going to undergo a life of hardship in his second try anyway. The demon probably did know, though. It's a demon. It enjoys making people suffer ironically.

no they hired a normal sitter. the perv canceled and hired gray workers instead. why did he do that instead of killing the original baby sitters? i dont know.

The point the author was trying to make with the parents dying was that the perv was under the impression that just cuz he lost the parent lottery, his life is destined to suck and that the only thing to do is reincarnate.

But the fact that ringo grew up without parents and have no money but was able to still die happy and not change a thing, shows how wrong the perv was.

Which is not nessesarily something I agree with, and completely contradictory to this entire story of yume and hama forced to do gray jobs to get money. But thats a whole different door to open.

Wealth can be gone just like that for many reasons, especially one that wasn't build by themselves. Happens more often IRL, it's just like that.

I believe the author made it happen to Ringo to highlight the Culprit's misconception, "Had I born to rich family, my life would be smooth sailing!" Had he succeed, he would be penniless in the end and miserable. Ringo did ended up "penniless", but a satisfying life because she lives with different mindset that the culprit's.

Not to undermine the importance of (enough) money, but IIRC our duo (Yume?) need money to pay astronomical financial debt, which is a different league of adversity. Meanwhile Ringo is just simply "poor".

For once the “scary” thing is actually the good one they need to help, the plot and explanation is whole and the ending is good.

The scum hired grey workers because they are “disposable”. Nobody will ask questions if they “disappear”. If he offed normal people, there bound to be questions (e.g. image of a kid with bad omen, etc) and that might ruin his “second life”.
Remember, he was trying to set up a “perfect” retry, which ironically causes his downfall. This is also connected to the message of the ending of the story that says no life is perfect, one will just have to put their own effort to be happy which the scum seem to refuse to do.

Yeah debt caused by her parents. Or adopted parents. The point is that the whole "do your best and u will be fine even if ur poor" rings hollow when we've seen tons of good people die in this manga because their poorness (often due to parents) forced them into gray jobs to get by.
