Yes, Asuka and Co. might have been nicer, but the moment they all realized he could do everything they would have started exploiting him more and more - that's just how that business works, and he still doesn't believe in his own abilities after being belittled for his whole life up to that point.

Plus, he had no one there to actually advocate for his best interests without bias if he were to get a contract worked out or something, since he doesn't know his own capacity and wouldn't be able to accrurately gauge whether he was being taken advantage of or not.
However nice those people might seem in comparison to his old "employers", they would still be looking to exploit his abilities - even Asuka lied to him from the getgo, asking him to "do some work for her" only to spring on him at the last moment that it was her entire group, and for a high-stakes gig.

Absolutely the correct decision on his part. Hopefully, he actually listens to what they said in terms of recognizing his ability, and hopefully that gets repeated constantly until he comes to believe it.

Yes, he does find a part time job to keep his rent and all. He just don't want to work permanently in entertainment for awhile (I said that because of course our dear Atsumu need to be involved in entertainment to show his super ability).

He's working healthily as a bartender and sometime waitress on a nice, idlic cafe that is manned by his childhood friend. No overworking, no pressure.

I wager it's because he was told he'd be working for Asuka, only to have her spring "oh it'll actually be makeup for a seven of us, also it's a huge debut gig" when he still doesn't believe in himself.

And then he was offered to essentially be paid to end up doing the same thing he was forced to do for his family, when that exact scenario is what made him want to drop out of his previous school and desire to live a normal life - as he doesn't believe in his talents, and time is needed before he can process all of what he's been told by his family versus the reality of his abilities.

If it was just small-scale stuff for Asuka alone, I imagine he'd have gone along with it. But what was presented was not what he was initially promised.

Asuka is nowhere near as bad as his family, but she fucked up by not being honest with him from the start.
