Is there a compound word in Japanese for “a romantic scene where the couple should have kissed but for some odd reason they just don’t”?
I imagine Japan would get a lot of use out of that, someone should get on it.
Maybe the Germans have one.
I believe there is! I don't speak German mind you, but with that said, if I'm not mistaken they have a term : "der Kussverpasser". Which could be translated as "the kiss misser" or "one who misses a kiss".
It's a compound word that is formed from "der Kuss", "the kiss" and "verpasser", "one who misses or fails to catch something".
As far as I know, it's used to refer to a person and not a situation and it's more often used to describe someone who missed an opportunity due to shyness, hesitation, or poor timing. But I still find it relevant and I would guess it also counts if the person didn't notice the opportunity.
At least, I for one, would say that our Sorawo is most definitely a "Kussverpasser".
