@MadSargeant ; Kalashnikov made new rifles, the AK-101 is chambered in 5.56mm NATO and made for export. Also traditionally the AK-47 or AKM used 7.62x39mm and the AK-74 and AK-74M used 5.45x39mm. Kalashnikov now has the AK-74M pattern other calibers thus the AK-101 in 5.56x45mm (AK-102 the short version), AK-103 which uses 7.62x39mm (AK-104 the short version).
@EroZero ; The one I was talking about in my post aren't the counterbalance guns. The AK-100 sereis are modernized AK-74s. What you mean is the AK-107 (5.45×39mm), AK-108 (5.56×45mm NATO) and AK-109 (7.62×39mm) which themselves are based on the AK-100 series. Don't think besides the Saiga MK-107 that they are commercially available, especially outside of Russia.
@Dagger Huh, I always thought the 100 series were all counterbalance guns and the modernised AKs were the AK-12 series. Must’ve gotten extremely confused with the naming scheme since they look similar and all with the black finish. You learn everyday I guess. Thanks for the info!
