Yh I think she accidentally crossed to the other side or something when she met the demon and it killed her family for her
Maybe so that later on she'd meet Toriko and all the events of the story would happen?
Maybe their meeting and life together so far as been the plan of the beings in the "otherside"

I don't think the beings are inherently malicious
They seem a lot like the "gods" in hellraiser in that they have very different understandings of morality
And the beings seem to think that the only way they can interact with humans (which might actually be their only possible way of doing that) is to stimulate the person's fear receptors (or whatever it's called, I think it's called the amygdala) which causes them to go mad.
They might be 4th dimensional beings that want to help humans ascend or something but need them to go mad first.
Or they could be evil who knows 🤷♂️
