Usogui being confused is almost alien to us. So Usogui didn't lose an eye or get one taken, it was just injured. Unsure if it could work properly later on. Would be a strange sight to see Usogui with an eyepatch.

@Ominous Suteguma did gouge Usogui's eye, just enough so his eye would no longer be able to complete the retina scan, but not to the point that Usogui would be unable to do Dotty.

So much revealed this chapter, holy crap.
From the looks of it, IDEAL isn't able to force a battle with Usogui as it stands. Especially considering after this gamble should end up having a battle with the Leader anyway.

Baku knew from the start that Suteguma was going to be the one to show up after all, it seems.

He also is aware that he has to win on this round or else this time he'll give away his bead count. Of course, that fact leads me to believe that it's a fakeout by Baku, to choose 12. He probably aims to have Suteguma show his real count on the next guess, and so chose a number that's further from his count. like if he's basing the guess off Suteguma having 5, maybe he acts like he has 7 when he really has like 3, to figure out what Suteguma's real number is.

I like the fact that Baku knew about Suteguma beforehand. In hindsight, since he needs the no. 0 referee, it should be a given that he is doing research on all other Kakerou members, at least the ones that have no. 0 as a referee.

About IDEAL and their battle with Usogui, there may be some situations where they can force a battle. Perhaps Baku might not obtain everything from this gamble, or IDEAL might come into possession similar requirements (tributes + no.0) and also compete for the surpassing the leader rights. I think it's possible for a referee to be exclusive to multiple members, and Caracal did say they had multiple Kakerou memberships, so they might not be out of the game yet.

One thing that is concerning is that even if Baku wins the Dotty game and gets the number, Macro still needs to input the number at the top, and both Macro and Baku (and Karl?) must successfully escape the tower, while fending off attacks from Hyougo and Leo, and breaking out of the SAT encirclement. It doesn't seem like Macro alone can successfully 1v2 Suteguma's group.

In this game, they also mentioned a lot of ways to make both players lose, so it's possible that Suteguma might get desperate and just a double loss. Baku might only obtain No. 0 here, and lose the 50 million and Karamete tributes (which would massively suck lol).

If IDEAL has some member that has Yakou as their personal referee, I think you could be right about that as a possibility.

It's also true that even after winning the game, they need to come up with a means to escape, on top of dealing with the Chief of the Funeral Division. It'll be a rough time no matter who comes out the victor of Dotty.

I don't think Suteguma can really force a double loss at this point, since only 2 people are able to do the scan. That'd mean that Suteguma would need to leave the Dotty again, guess wrong again, and finally convince Marco to also guess wrong against Usogui's order.

50 billion*
If it were only 50 million it wouldn't be such a big deal for Baku, haha.

There's other ways to force a double loss. If you remember the explanation for inputting the correct code: they said that if you destroy the terminal then both players will lose. So I could see a scenario where Suteguma enters the wrong password, and since he has no chance of winning anyway, he decides to destroy the terminal so that both players lose.

I absolutely loved this chapter. It showed us a side of Baku that we're definitely not used to seeing. In addition to showing us his inner monologue, we saw Baku being fairly confused (for his standards) for the first time so far, and not only that but we also saw that Baku is very dedicated when he needs to be; prior to this, Baku had always done all the preparation he needed to do perfectly, and seemingly effortlessly, but this time they showed him locked up in his room for two days straight, trying to get a read on his future opponent and then only barely getting a minor tell that may or may not be the key to this match. I'm excited to see how this develops. I also wonder how much of what Usogui mentioned about Suteguma's background is true.
