I guess is one of those literary licenses. The author may not know if that's even possible but, he just can't keep from Maki auch an striking panel.

It's sorta funny how much a new female character raises the tension here.

Most other series either have more female characters or the female characters are sorta 1-dimensional/not allowed to be part of whatever the story's main deal is.
