I also think the safe first bet would be the sword. If you went taser first the combo is too obvious. Although if you straight up started with gun you could shake things up! I know i'd be freaked out after that lol.
Thanks for the chapter!

I feel excitement from this gamble. We know baku is unlosable mastermind but these character insert gambles feel like they could swing either way.

This famous scene will explain everything:

If you pick the pistol first, seeing how Kaji got wrecked even after the block you either secure a good hit, or leaving your opponent in a bad spot.

One is lethal, and the other removes the strongest shield, which would allow you to secure a hit with the sword on the second round.

Of course i am more concerned with Kaiji being able to kill a man, or actually swinging a sword pass a shield, because those factors may make the sword the worse weapon he has.

So he's kinda like Voja except with less (valuable) natural talents.

There is a vagueness in the rules that I don't care for - though it is very natural for the game and again, the refs have probably considered it.

It just seems like Kaji's analysis is simply assuming that the blocker will successfully block every time and that the spears/shields will therefore have the same efficacy, but if one were to fuck up in any way, things could change drastically. I seriously wonder how the 'no crouching' rule can be interpreted along with the 'no extra violence'.

And the wait begins.

@Doomroar I was thinking that as well. The gun seems like it wins vs everything. You won't die if you have the iron shield but you still get bashed pretty well. I also completely agree on Kaji's willingness to kill a man with his own hands. Remember, he was absolutely sickened at the Hangman game and what happened to Ikuto. Usogui I think understands how serious these gambles are. Kaji might still have the innocence that he doesn't want to be "responsible" for someone's death. But he's already crossed that bridge. If he really wants to fight to the end for Baku he needs to steel himself for the situation, like Marco did vs Caracal.

I think Kaji's problem here is he's still a bit too analytical (presuming he does in fact pick the sword and doesn't surprise us). A lot of the times in these gambling mangas, making the most prudent choice doesn't win; you need to be bold. I suppose all it takes is one gun vs wooden/rubber or one sword vs a paralyzed opponent to really "win" so its worth keeping your options open, but still.

So the gun has so little recoil it can be fired with one hand, but somehow it translates to enough knockback to slam a heavy shield held with two arms back to give someone a bruising? For some reason I have a harder time believing this than all the supernatural feats so far.

@nhattminhh The forces pushing the gun back should be about the same as the ones forcing the bullet out. The difference is that instead of a grip pushing into your hand a bullet will be faster and it will transfer that energy to a smaller point, which makes it great at stressing materials to the breaking point before the energy can be dissipated. I guess an argument can be made that the way he holds the shield makes it harder to absorb the energy the same way you see amateur shooters hit themselves in the face with a gun while firing it.
